Born and raised in Carmel, California, Cammy Torgenrud earned three degrees at Stanford University: a B.A. in English, B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Education. Cammy returned to the Monterey Peninsula in 1987 and currently lives in Carmel with her husband Tim. She teaches at York School in Monterey and enjoys traveling, hiking, photography and collaborating with her husband on various building and gardening projects.

Having worked in independent schools since graduating from Stanford, Cammy is an educator at heart. Her various academic degrees prepared her to take on disparate roles over the years, including serving as Humanities Devision Head, Dean of Faculty and Director of Technology. She currently teaches Advanced Psychology as well as Technology & Information Literacy. Cammy earned the York School Board of Trustees Outstanding Faculty Award in 1998 and served as faculty representative to York's Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2001.

Cammy and her husband Tim have generously supported a range of nonprofit organizations and philanthropic causes over the past thirty years, most notably the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Big Sur Land Trust, local radio station KAZU, MPC's Women Supporting Women and 100 Women Who Care on the Central Coast. Cammy is also a primary shareholder in Devil's Creek, Inc. a corporation entrusted, in affiliation with The Nature Conservancy and U. C. Santa Cruz, with maintaining and protecting an ecological preserve in Big Sur.
